Meet Interior Designer Jenny Hollander!
At Finecraft Builders, we believe the difference between a house and a home is all in the details. That’s why our building process allows you to choose the features that fit your preferences best — so every inch, from your foyer to your master bedroom, looks and feels just the way you want it to. After your dream home has been created, you’re free to take your interior design in any direction your heart desires. But if this part of the process doesn’t come naturally to you, don’t worry — we’re here to provide you with the resources you’re looking for.
This week, we’re excited to introduce you to a gifted interior designer and Finecraft homeowner, Jenny Hollander! Creator and owner of design service Hollander Home Style, Jenny has decorated a living room in one of our move-in-ready homes, and shares weekly design tips in our “design minute” series. Incredibly talented, thoughtful, and kind, our team loves having Jenny as a resource for our homeowners!
What’s your relationship with Finecraft Builders?
My husband, Nate, and I finished building our Finecraft home about a year ago. Soon after, I started posting photos of our home on Instagram, sharing interior styling and design tips. It was through this that my interior design hobby turned into a passion. I started accepting clients and helping others in their own homes. After seeing some of my work, Finecraft asked me to decorate the living room in one of their move-in ready homes. Additionally, we partner each week in a “design minute” series where we video my design tips to be shared through our social media pages!
Why did you choose Finecraft over other builders?
There are few builders who offer such modern and unique options, at so far below a custom price-point — 10′ ceilings, 5.25′ trim, fully cased craftsman windows and doors, black windows, large sliders, exterior fireplaces, oversized showers, the list goes on and on! Every layout is open and functional, and every option is well-thought out and reasonably priced. We’ve found homes at nearly double the cost with less desirable options.
What do you wish other people knew about Finecraft?
The options to customize! Finecraft was willing and able to custom price features and finishes that we had our hearts set on. We were able to include lighting that fit our style, or prewire to any space that we had more specific fixtures in mind. We could include the mirror where it fit the look, and add our own to make a special statement. The bones of the home really speak to today’s buyer, and the option to make the finishes specifically yours makes for a truly one-of-a-kind home.
Where did you grow up?
Tell us about your family! I grew up in the very southern tip of Indiana in a small town called Rockport. I went to college at Indiana University, Bloomington where I met my husband, Nate. We stayed there after college for another 9 years and had our two little boys, Mason and McCoy, now ages 5 and 3. We only moved to Carmel a year ago when our Finecraft home was built.
How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?
I spend all of my free time either playing with our boys and going on family fun outings, or working on our new design business, Hollander Home Style!
What would someone be surprised to know about you?
I’ve only been designing for other people for the past 6 months and am also a middle school math teacher! Tell us about someone you admire. Shea McGee! She is the interior designer that owns Studio McGee (interior design studio) and McGee & Co. (their online store). Their work is simply amazing.
What is your favorite place of all the places you’ve traveled?
I’ve been blessed to be able to travel to a total of 19 countries so far, so this is a hard one for me! I’d say my favorites have been Kenya and Italy!
All of us at Finecraft Builders want to thank Jenny for all that she does! Whether you choose a single-family home from our Cornerstone series or a low-maintenance home from our Encore series, Jenny is always available to help turn your interior into the beautiful, comforting space you’ve always dreamed of. Take a look at her interior home style on her Instagram page, and don’t be afraid to reach out with any questions!
