Staycation??? It's a great idea!

3 Ways to Make the Most of Your Labor Day Staycation

Every year Labor Day rolls around at just the right time. The school year has kicked off and a few cooler days have let us know that fall is on its way. Needless to say, we’re all ready for a little break!

You could plan a jam-packed weekend of travel – but odds are you’d end up more exhausted than rejuvenated. Instead, save the long trip and spend some time at home or in the community for a relaxing weekend with family and friends. Here are a few ways we wouldn’t mind spending the weekend.

1. A NIGHT ON THE TOWN

There’s so much to do this weekend in and around Carmel! Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather, whether it’s a date night or an outing with the whole family.

The Symphony on the Prairie Prince Tribute will be on stage every night this weekend! The Purple Veins tribute band will take you back in time with some of Prince’s greatest hits. While you can purchase food and drinks at the venue, you can also pack a picnic and enjoy the show with some of your favorite snacks and a glass of wine.

The 5th Annual Blues Fest is in Fishers on Saturday. This free, family event starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. Bring some blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic for a night of music from renowned blues artists.

2. KEEP IT LOCAL

You don’t have to travel far for a good time! Go out and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or head to a local festival.

The Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace is an annual must-attend event. Stop by Clay Terrace on Monday, and for just $5 you can enjoy food trucks, vendors, music and all sorts of vintage, antique, re & upcycled, artisanal and just plain cool items!

Want a pint with dinner? Check out Danny Boy Beer Works for the best of both! This awesome, local spot in the Village of West Clay has beautiful indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the last few days of summer. You can pick from one of the 10 Danny Boy Beers or 30 guests taps.

3. TAKE YOUR LONG WEEKEND TO GREAT HEIGHTS

Maybe you’re looking for something more daring this weekend. Koteewi Aerial Adventure Treetop Trails in Noblesville is a great place for adventurous folks! Enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities including archery, horseback riding and aerial obstacle courses. This 800-acre park will fill an entire day with fun!

For an added bonus, if you visit this Saturday, September 2 and wear your college colors you’ll get $5 off of each ticket you buy!

And the best part about a staycation? At the end of the day you’re back in the comfort of your own home.
